Untitled, 2017

Untitled is a video installation which uses anonymous footage recovered from a camera that was lost at sea. Untitled, explores the obsolescence of old models of technology as their advanced successor models come out with surpassed capabilities. With each new model of technology, in this case Go PRO, the new capabilities are unattainable for the un-upgradable previous model and henceforth, renders them obsolete.

Untitled is a visual metaphor which parallels consumer absorption and the persistence of the value of the new. The lost camera filming its journey to the ocean floor and laying there until it’s battery is depleted reflects that what is rendered obsolete and irrecoverable can also be the source of unintended poetics.
