Gluttony, 2017

Gluttony explores the nature of how we consume the digital image in an online context and attempts to provide insight into the method and means of consumption specifically relating to the mobile phone.

Consumerism is concerned with growth; it will not and cannot be stopped. Capitalism is not natural, it was created. It must continue to grow, not out of desire or necessity, but simply to preserve its own survival. Without growth capitalism stops.

We’re currently at a point in time where deaths from overconsumption have overtaken death from starvation. By using food related hashtags I’ve created a work that speaks to the masses of digital information available. By making a moving image work in the context of 12 hours, I’ve challenged what we deem consumption and overconsumption to be.
