Into The Unknown is an ongoing project that re-invents a landscape. Through the mediums of black and white film photography and digital processing, this body of work challenges the conventional visual language of a scene whilst exploring the conceptual relationship between the technical process and subject matter. These photographs attempt to manipulate the ordinary landscape to reveal strange and unsettling scenes. With references to the Australian Sublime and the style of Romanticism, these images capture the impenetrable darkness and its haunting nature. The format of these prints acts as a guide and questions our capacity as humans to not only navigate forward but also construct a fictional visual experience.
