Karinthy Conversations, 2017
With the advent of new technologies, photography finds itself at a crossroad with respect to traditional understandings of what constitutes photographic art. Digital technologies such as smart phones are challenging traditional modes of image making and redefining photographic practice. With more technically refined devices continuing to emerge and the subsequent growth in iPhoneography as a movement continuing, it is imperative to investigate the place of such technologies and the images they produce within contemporary photographic practice.
Karinthy Conversations offers a practice based contribution to discourse concerned with legitimising the iPhone as a valid device for producing images of artistic merit. Degree 1, Degree 3 and Degree 6 affirm the place and valuable contribution that the iPhone makes toward the discipline of artistic photography.
